Air quality

The main air pollutants are nitrogen, dioxide, particulate matter, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, and ozone. They are mainly produced locally in urban areas, as a result of transportation, heating, and in some cases industrial facilities and power plants. They are also transported towards urban areas from neighbouring areas.
